“Water Pays for Water”: Sonora, An Affluent of National Privatization

In collaboration with Fernanda Ibarra, we shed light on the dynamics of water privatization in Mexico. We do so by looking at the case of Sonora, a desertic, northern state where the bourgeoisie is out of control.

Transitions and non-transitions from neoliberalism in Latin America and Southern Europe

Politics is a journal of the Political Studies Association.

In collaboration with Juan Pablo Ferrero (University of Bath, UK) and Antonios Roumpakis (University of York, UK), here we seek to disentangle the process through which some democratic polities ‘escape’ from neoliberal rule while others do not. We discuss three cases, each shedding liht to a distinct path: a transition in Argentina, failed transition in Greece, and non-transition in Mexico.
